Stretching over 360 miles of Northern Colorado, this driving loop connects the three central scenic byways in the area with the Cache la Poudre National Heritage Area. Whether you plan on touring the entire loop or just visiting the area for a quick trip, a new adventure is always right around the corner.

If you plan on exploring the entire Byways Heritage Loop, schedule 2 to 3 days to drive the complete route. Be sure to look into lodging options before embarking on your journey.

PRAIRIE TO PEAK
1 DAY, 35-160 MILES
Looking for a day trip? Consider starting in Greeley and the Cache la Poudre National Heritage Area and heading either west to catch Trail Ridge Road in Estes Park, or follow the Poudre River northwest to Fort Collins and the Cache la Poudre-North Park Byway. With various towns and attractions, these routes are a great way to sample what the loop has to offer within a day.

EXTENDED LOOP
3+ DAYS, 400 MILES
Interested in spending as much time exploring as possible? Extend the loop by following the Colorado River Headwaters Byway west to Kremmling and then take US-40 W and CO-14 E to Walden. Here you can catch the Cache la Poudre-North Park Scenic & Historic Byway and continue through the rest of the loop.

Running along the Colorado River, the route traces the river from its source and affords insight into the lives of previous inhabitants. The byway stretches between Grand Lake and State Bridge to offer first-class fishing and boating, along with plenty of quiet spaces by the river and surrounding lakes.
