Visit us at Durango Area Tourism Office

Nestled comfortably in the Animas Valley, with its mountainous entry at the north end and doorway to the desert Southwest at the other, Durango is a dozen vacations in one destination. Durango is an ideal location for your group, a historic town with colorful history, beautiful scenery, and a unique blend of activities.

Group activities include riding the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. The meticulously restored coal fired steam locomotives take you on a journey through lush mountain valleys and steep gorges along the Animas River and into a bygone era. Many things have changed along these rugged tracks but the pristine and scenic beauty of the San Juan Mountains remains spectacular. Other activities include the Bar-D Wranglers, our melodrama, the Durango Pro Rodeo, rafting and Mesa Verde National Park.
