Fort Collins lies on the edge of the prairie, on the cache La Poudre River at the foot of the rocky mountain, between Denver and Cheyenne. Known as the Choice City, it is the largest city in Northern Colorado and home to Colorado State University. Fort Collins richly deserves its reputation as the cultural capital of Northern Colorado.
Services & Amenities:
With a half-dozen live theater stages in production throughout the year; a symphony orchestra, ballet troupe, and opera company as well as several chorale ensembles; facilities that accommodate a wide range of national touring shows and concerts; and galleries and museums mounting exhibits of everything from animation art to historical kimonos, there’s always something interesting going on.
Modern-day visitors to Fort Collins can stroll back through time to the town’s earliest days in and around Old Town. The district was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978; the majority of the buildings within Old Town are part of both national and locally designated historic districts, and Fort Collins was named a Preserve America city by the White House in 2005 and one of the Dozen Distinctive Destinations in 2010 by the Trust for Historic Preservation. Additionally, ride the only original trolley car west of the Mississippi through a beautiful historic Old Town neighborhood.
