Description:

During the time period of 1890 – 1910, Cripple Creek was known as the “World’s Greatest Gold Camp”. Today, the colorful history of the region is still evident in the attractions, tours, shops, and hillsides.

Located just 45 miles west of Colorado Springs, this historic mountain town lies on the western slope of Pikes Peak. Begin your Cripple Creek experience at the new Pikes Peak Heritage Center which offers breathtaking, panoramic views.

Visitors can explore entertaining, hands-on exhibits that will educate on the history of the gold camp, mountains, flora & fauna, dinosaurs, and regional attractions & activities.

Next, continue across the road to the Molly Kathleen Gold Mine tour the only authentic 1890’s mine tour adventure that takes you 1,000 ft. below ground.

Visitors can also climb aboard the Cripple Creek & Victor Narrow Gauge Railroad. The old steam engine winds through the hillsides providing scenic views of historic mine ruins.

Plan enough time to stroll though our other historic museums and shops, try your luck at a lively casino, tour the new Outlaws & Lawmen Jail Museum, or take in a lively show at the historic Butte Theater.

Make sure to check out Cripple Creek’s calendar of events which includes activities like Summer Fest, July 4th Celebration, Cripple Creek Honors America’s Armed Forces, & the Fall Wine Festival. You won’t want to miss out!

Your stay in Cripple Creek will be accented by comfortable accommodations in a restored guesthouse, bed & breakfast or contemporary hotel.
