Description:
Nestled comfortably in the Animas Valley, with its mountainous entry at the north end and doorway to the desert Southwest at the other, Durango is the ideal location for your group! A historic town with colorful history, beautiful scenery, providing old west experiences, ancient ruins, and arts and culture to adventure sports, agritourism, and special events, Durango has it all.
Group activities include rafting the Animas River, dining in the many independently owned restaurants, hiking and biking our trails, experiencing Native American Culture and Heritage at Mesa Verde National Park and Chimney Rock National Monument, farm tours, and winter or summer outdoor recreation at Purgatory Resort. Riding the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, the meticulously restored coal fired steam locomotives take you on a journey through lush mountain valleys and steep gorges along the Animas River and into a bygone era. Many things have changed along these rugged tracks, but the pristine and scenic beauty of the San Juan Mountains remains spectacular.
